Oppo’s upcoming smartphone, the Oppo A98 5G, with model code CPH2529, has received certification from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in Thailand. The NBTC certification only confirms 5G connectivity, but details about the phone’s features and specifications have been revealed by China’s TENAA.
In terms of design, The Oppo A98 smartphone model, manufactured in China, measures 162.3 x 74.3 x 7.7 mm (6.39 x 2.93 x 0.30 in) and weighs 171 g (6.03 oz). It will have a powerful octa-core processor running at 2.2GHz, and a large 6.7″ FullHD+ curved AMOLED display. The phone will also have a fingerprint reader underneath the display for biometric authentication. The screen-to-body ratio is expected to be around 89.6%.
The phone will run on the latest Android 12 operating system and be powered by a Qualcomm SM6375 Snapdragon 695 5G (6 nm) chipset. It will feature an octa-core processor, consisting of 2×2.2 GHz Kryo 660 Gold and 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 660 Silver CPUs, and an Adreno 619 GPU.
The Chinese Oppo A98 will come in several internal storages and RAM variants, including 64GB/6GB, 128GB/8GB, 256GB/12GB, and 512GB/12GB. It will not have a microSD card slot, but it will support UFS 2.2 storage.
In terms of camera specifications, the Chinese Oppo A98 will feature a dual rear camera setup with a 108-megapixel wide lens, PDAF, and OIS, as well as a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The phone will also have a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Chinese Oppo A98 will feature a fingerprint scanner under the display, optical sensors, and will have a range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and NFC. The phone will come with a 5000mAh non-removable battery with 67W fast charging and PD3.0.
