Instagram has been testing a new feature that will allow users to easily access their recently shared Reels. This feature is designed to make it easier for users to reshare a Reel they enjoyed with another friend at a later time. The Turkey-based account, Dijital Ağlar, shared a post about this feature on Instagram.
The post showed that Instagram is displaying a row at the top of users’ DMs with the label “Latest Shares.” The screenshots posted by the account revealed that the shared posts will also display the avatars of the friends who the Reel was shared with. Furthermore, if one short video is shared multiple times, it will be displayed only once, with the avatar of the friend with whom it was last shared.
In response to TechCrunch’s inquiry, a spokesperson for Instagram’s parent company, Meta, confirmed the development of this feature. They said, “We’re rolling out improvements to how you can search for and rediscover Reels that were previously shared in messages.” However, the company didn’t specify if this feature would show other non-Reels posts in the Latest Shares section. Additionally, they gave no information about the rollout schedule.
This new feature is part of Instagram’s continued effort to enhance user experience and engagement on the platform. With this feature, users will be able to easily access and reshare their favorite Reels with their friends. As Instagram continues to test and roll out new features, it will be exciting to see how users respond and how the platform evolves.
