Tecno, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has announced that it has started production of its latest foldable smartphone, the Phantom V Fold, in India as part of the “Make in India” program. The Phantom V Fold will be produced at Tecno’s facility in Noida, which has the capacity to manufacture 24 million phones annually.
The brand has also revealed that the Phantom V Fold will be launched in India on April 11, with early access sales on Amazon starting from April 12. The phone will be sold for INR77,777 ($945/€870) during the limited stock period, but the final price has not been disclosed.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold is the company’s first foldable smartphone, powered by the Dimensity 9000+ SoC and paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The FullHD+ cover display measures 6.42″ diagonally, while the foldable screen has a 7.85″ diagonal with a 2,296×2,000-pixel resolution. Both displays have a 120Hz screen refresh rate and 1,100 nits peak brightness.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold comes with five cameras, including a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 13MP ultrawide lens on the back, a 16MP selfie camera on the inside, and a 32MP selfie camera on the cover display. However, unlike the vivo X Fold/Fold+, the Phantom V Fold does not have an in-display fingerprint scanner. It instead has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The phone is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W charging support. It is an exciting addition to the foldable smartphone market, and it will be interesting to see how it fares against its competitors.
