Vivo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has officially announced the upcoming release of its latest foldable phone, the vivo X Fold2. The phone is set to be unveiled at the 2023 Boao Forum, which will be held in China. The company is touting the device as a demonstration of China’s technology, design, and innovation.
The phone is expected to have a 4,800 mAh battery with 120W fast charging, which should provide users with ample power to get through the day. Other leaked specs include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a dual ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and a camera with a Sony IMX866 sensor, OIS, and V2 ISP. The main camera will be the same as the 50MP shooter on the vivo X90 and iQOO 11 Pro.
The dual ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is a first for foldable phones. Most manufacturers have opted for a single sensor, which is usually embedded in the power key. However, vivo has decided to include a sensor for each screen, which should make it easier to unlock the phone in any configuration.
The vivo X Fold2 is expected to be accompanied by the vivo X Flip, a clamshell phone that the company is also expected to launch. Additionally, there are rumors of a new tablet called the vivo Pad 2, which may also make an appearance at the launch event.
While there are still a few days or weeks left before the official launch, the company expects leaks and spy shots to emerge before then. However, with its impressive specs and innovative design, the vivo X Fold2 promises to be a game-changer in the world of foldable phones.
