MiHoYo, the developer behind Genshin Impact, has officially confirmed that its upcoming turn-based RPG, Honkai Star Rail, will be released on April 26. The release date announcement comes after the date was leaked via an app store listing a few weeks ago.
To celebrate the news, the developer and publisher are holding a giveaway with a prize pool consisting of 100 gift cards, each worth $100 USD.
Honkai Star Rail is a free-to-play game that will be available on PC and mobile platforms. It features an optional gacha system, similar to Genshin Impact, and takes place in a completely different world with its own story and characters.
One of the biggest differences between the two games is the combat system. While Genshin Impact features fast-paced, real-time battles, Honkai Star Rail will have turn-based battles. Additionally, Honkai Star Rail is not an open-world game and instead follows a semi-linear journey from planet to planet as players progress through the main story, which follows the events of Honkai Impact 3rd but is also self-contained for newcomers.
Honkai Star Rail has already undergone three closed betas, and the developer is now racing to the finish line before the game’s launch next month. Fans of turn-based RPGs can mark their calendars for April 26, when Honkai Star Rail will finally be available to play.
