MultiVersus Open Beta, the upcoming multiplayer game from Player First Games, is going offline on June 25, 2023, as the studio prepares for a full launch in early 2024. In a message released on Monday, Tony Huynh, co-founder and game director of Player First Games, announced that all MultiVersus online modes and features would be unavailable during the downtime.
However, players will have limited offline access to local matches and the game’s training room, and all characters and cosmetic items within these modes will carry over to the full game next year. Huynh also revealed that the Open Beta had been an important learning opportunity for the studio, and it now had a clearer view of what it needed to focus on.
The team plans to work on the content cadence of new characters, maps, and modes to give players more ways to enjoy the game. The progression system will also be reworked based on feedback from players, and new ways for players to connect with friends in the game will be explored.
While the news of the game going offline might be disappointing, Huynh assured players that MultiVersus would be back with a variety of new content, features, and modes. Warner, the publisher of the game, also confirmed that all progress and previously earned or purchased in-game content would carry over to the full game when it’s released next year.
However, refunds for in-game content won’t be available, and the game will be temporarily removed from digital storefronts and unavailable for download on April 4, 2023. MultiVersus is a multiplayer game that features popular characters from Warner’s franchises, such as Batman, Superman, and Bugs Bunny.
